These days due to the unbearable summer heat, the air conditioner has become a basic necessity rather than luxury. The air conditioner was first introduced by Stuart Cramer, but the term was coined by W. Carrier. The scientific invention helps people a number of ways. For instance, when the air cooler was first launched and installed in a Houston theatre, the number of theatre-goers speedily raised.Air conditioning systems reduce air humidity and maintain its quality. There are ACs designed to dry the air without cooling it.

The AC is usually composed of a condenser, an evaporator and a compressor. There is also a chemical that converts gas into liquid and vice versa. There are two types of air conditioning systems: a split and a package system. In the split system, the condenser and the compressor are set outside the room and the evaporator is placed inside the room. The evaporator is used for circulating the air around the room. In the package system, all constituents are set outside the room. There are small, mid-sized and large air conditioners.

The most popular air conditioning system is the window air conditioner which is installed on a window and specially designed for cooling a particular room. If several rooms are to be cooled, then you should select a split or a mini-split air conditioning system, depending on the number of rooms to be cooled. The most widespread ones are portable air conditioners that you can move around. For cooling the whole house you should deploy central air conditioners.Portable air conditioners are advantageous, because you can use them in any room. It is a movable appliance on wheels so that you can conveniently move it from one room to another.

The only drawback of the air conditioner is electricity bills that can adversely impact upon one's pocket. Still, here are a few useful tips to help you decrease the total amount of consumed electricity and, therefore, bills:

• Do not place the AC where the Sun faces it directly. This makes the AC use more power for cooling a room.

• Do not buy a large-sized AC for a small room.

• When the air conditioning system is on, keep doors and windows closed.By using the air conditioner rationally, you can minimize your expenses.
